The IPG Research and Development team in the Netherlands is looking for:
The position:
Job
involves projects in the areas of breeding goals, Breeding Value
Estimation and implementation in the breeding program. Other project
areas are (genetics of) health, reproduction, male and female and
nutrition; all of these areas approached from thorough quantitative
analysis. Core business of our group is the day to day processing of
huge volumes of data into EBV’s.
The organisation:
IPG,
Institute for Pig Genetics B.V. is supplying independent scientific and
administrative support for the improvement of farm animal (mainly pig)
breeding (TOPIGS, www.TOPIGS.com
) and AI programmes. The activities of IPG are primarily breeding
program administration, breeding value estimation and breeding and AI
research.
The Research and Development
department of IPG is engaged in innovations in breeding, both in
quantitative genetics and in genomics. Fertility and reproduction (AI
and ET) as well as the biology and economy of important traits are
naturally part of this research.
Basic qualifications for the job are:
§ · academic education in animal genetics
§ · ‘love for data and data analysis’
§ · fluent in English in speech and writing
§ · team work abilities
Strong extra qualifications could be found in:
§ · strong interest in pig production worldwide
§ · interest and experience in genomics, reproduction, and/or nutrition
§ · one or more other languages than English (and Dutch)
