Postdoctoral Position in France

"Study of Ca2+ signaling and its biological function(s) in the Fas/CD95 apoptotic and non-apoptotic pathways"

A 2 years ANR-funded postdoctoral position will be available in the “Death Receptor and Tumor Escape” (DRaTE) (http://www.irset.org/?page_id=366) laboratory (Dir. P. Legembre) of the INSERM U1085 IRSET institute (Dir B. Jégou) located in Rennes, France. Preferred start date is between October and November, 2012.

Our group is interested in the role of the Ca2+ second messenger in the control of the life and death outcomes of Fas/CD95 stimulation (Khadra et al. PNAS 2011, Tauzin et al. PLoS Biology, 2011). We are particularly interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms linking the CD95 death receptor to the  modification of the intracellular calcium homeostasis and how malignant cells use this signal to escape the host immune response and/or the chemotherapeutic regimens.
This is a unique opportunity for a young scientist to apply new and innovative global approaches to the study of the early signal transduction events of the Fas/CD95. The ideal candidate would have proven skills and an in deep theoretical knowledge in Ca2+ signaling (hands-on experience of Ca2+ imaging would be a great asset), molecular biology, biochemistry and cell culture techniques.
The selected candidate will receive the full support from the team to apply for permanent research positions at Inserm and CNRS French research institutes (Chargé de Recherche). The candidate must be enthusiastic with excellent communication skills in English and a good team spirit in order to join a young starting team located in an excellent research environment with all the start-of-the-art core facilities. He/she will beneficiate from a highly competitive scientific infrastructure, agreable living conditions and comprehensive support by permanent staff members.

Extremely motivated PhDs with outstanding CV are encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates should send a motivation letter, a CV, a list of publications and three reference letters to Dr. Aubin Penna (aubin.penna@univ-rennes1.fr) and Dr Patrick Legembre (patrick.legembre@inserm.fr).
