PhD position in cardiovascular research (Aachen, Germany) (Aachen)

As of March 1st, 2012, a PhD student position will be available in the group of Dr. Erdenechimeg Guenther for 3 years (TVL-E13/2). This project aims to identify the role of immunoglobulin Fcgamma Receptor III (Fc�RIII) in atherosclerosis, focusing on the role of Fc�RIII interplay with complement C5a receptor in atherosclerotic vascular inflammation. Key objectives are to determine the significance of Fc�RIII deficiency in atherosclerotic model in mice and identify its mode of interaction with complement C5a and other receptor systems.
The group is based at the well-established Institute for Molecular Cardiovascular Research (IMCAR), University Clinic of Aachen, Germany. Successful candidates with graduate study (MSc) in biology, pharmacy, biochemistry or biomedicine are expected to demonstrate outstanding academic performance and scientific excellence in life sciences.
