Position in Mechanical Engineering - Biomechanics 

Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in mechanical engineering with research focus in biomechanics, to begin in Fall 2012. Candidates should have an earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline. We seek applicants who will contribute to Washington University’s vital multi-disciplinary research effort in biomechanics, biophysics, and mechanobiology. Washington University is a highly selective national research university with an outstanding medical school and a strong tradition of collaboration between engineering and the life sciences.

The successful applicant will have a primary appointment in Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science (mems.wustl.edu), with the possibility of joint appointments in other departments. The faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering, participate in University service, and establish a vigorous externally-funded research program. The open position is at the rank of Assistant Professor; appointment at a more senior rank will be considered for an exceptional candidate with a distinguished record of achievement in research and teaching.
