2 PhD positions on neutrophils in atherosclerosis

 Two positions for PhD students are available from January 2013 within a third party-funded project. The project is based at the Institute for Cardiovascular Prevention, LMU Munich (http://www.klinikum.uni-muenchen.de/Institut-fuer-Prophylaxe-und-Epidemiologie-der-Kreislaufkrankheiten/de/index.html). The projects center around the role of neutrophils in chronic inflammation with a specific emphasis of atherosclerosis. Methodologically, the project involves predominantly animal models of inflammation, specifically of leukocyte recruitment. Hence, applicants should have experience with handling of animals and possibly hold a certificate for animal experimentation. Applicants should have a Master degree in a relevant field from an European university, and good knowledge in physiology, inflammation, and immunology. Applicants should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, a quick learner, a good team-player and have effective communication skills.
