BECA PREDOCTORAL EN INMUNONUTRICIÓN

OFERTA: Se busca candidat@ para optar a una beca JAE PREDOC del CSIC.

TEMA: El tema de investigación se enmarca dentro del Proyecto de Investigación “Estudio de intervención nutricional doble ciego, randomizado, para la evaluación de efectos del consumo de la cepa probiótica Lactobacillus coryniformis CECT5711 sobre la función intestinal y la respuesta inmune”.

REQUISITOS: Se requiere licenciad@s en Biología, Bioquímica, Biotecnología, Ciencia y Tecnología de los Alimentos o similar, que hayan obtenido una titulación universitaria que permita el acceso a enseñanzas de máster universitario, con una nota media de expediente superior a 2,5 puntos. Aunque la convocatoria de becas JAE PREDOC 2012 todavía no ha sido publicada, los requisitos de los solicitantes serán muy similares a los mencionados en la última convocatoria (http://www.boe.es/boe/dias/2011/02/03/pdfs/BOE-A-2011-2088.pdf).

AMBIENTE DE TRABAJO: El/La candidat@ se incorporará en el “Grupo de Inmunonutrición” del ICTAN-CSIC (http://www.inmunonutricion-csic.com/) en un ambiente de trabajo multidisciplinario y con todos los avances tecnológicos necesarios para la adquisición de conocimientos amplios en Inmunología y Nutrición. Durante la realización de su Tesis Doctoral, el/la candidat@ utilizará los siguientes métodos/técnicas:
- Estudios dietéticos (mediante registros de consumo de alimentos, cuestionarios de frecuencia de consumo de alimentos…) y de síntomas/hábitos gastrointestinales.
- Determinación de inmunoglobulinas (mediante nefelometría), citoquinas (mediante ELISA), subpoblaciones de linfocitos (mediante citometría de flujo) y actividad NK y fagocítica en muestras de sangre.
- Determinación de inmunoglobulinas (mediante ELISA) y “ácidos grasos de cadena corta” o AGCC (mediante cromatografía de gases) en muestras de heces.
- Análisis de la composición de la microbiota fecal mediante PCR Cuantitativa en Tiempo-Real.

PhD FELLOWSHIP IN IMMUNONUTRITION

OFFER: We seek for an excellent and highly motivated student that is willing to apply for a JAE-CSIC PREDOC fellowship with our research group.

TOPIC: The Doctoral Thesis will be based on the research project "Double-blind, randomized, nutritional intervention to analyse the effect of the consumption of the probiotic strain Lactobacillus coryniformis CECT5711 on gastrointestinal function and immune response".

REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and have a strong academic record (Spanish BSc degree score > 2.5). Although the 2012 call of the JAE-CSIC PREDOC fellowship has not been published yet, the applicants’ requirements will be very similar to those mentioned in the last call (http://www.boe.es/boe/dias/2011/02/03/pdfs/BOE-A-2011-2088.pdf).

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The “Immunonutrition Research Group” (http://www.inmunonutricion-csic.com/) belongs to the Department of Metabolism and Nutrition, and is situated within the Institute of Food Science, Technology and Nutrition (ICTAN-CSIC), in Madrid, Spain. The Institute offers strong interactive environment and various excellent opportunities for collaborative research within the institute and the surrounding University area. During his/her Doctoral Thesis, the candidate will use the following methods/techniques:
- Dietary studies (through food consumption records, food frequency questionnaires...) and gastrointestinal symptoms/habits records.
- Determination of immunoglobulins (by nephelometry), cytokines (by ELISA), lymphocyte subsets (by flow cytometry) and phagocytic and NK activity in blood samples.
- Determination of immunoglobulins (by ELISA) and "short-chain fatty acids" or SCFA (by gas chromatography) in stool samples.
- Analysis of the fecal microbiota composition by Quantitative Real-Time PCR.
