The
VIII Course of the Latin American School of Human and Medical Genetics (ELAG)
will be held on May 6-12, 2012. The venue will be Hotel Samuara, located inside
a natural park 100 km far from Porto Alegre. This intensive
course will have 17 lectures, 6 short-courses, 1 debate, 1 workshop and poster
session, addressing the most important topics related to genetics and genomics.
It is addressed to postgraduate students, young investigators and professionals
interested on the new applications of genetics to the health sciences.
This
year we will offer 70 seats to all Latin American countries, and all selected
students will have the expenses with accommodation, meals and transfer
airport-hotel-airport covered by the organizers. A contribution of US$ 350 will
be requested from each student to cover part of the operational costs of the
course. The course will be addressed by a faculty of 30 top-rank investigators
from Latin America, North America and Europe. A social program was
planned to enhance interaction among faculty and students and to promote
international partnership.
