Two exciting R&D job opportunities are available in the context of
the ERC Advanced Grant HECTOR, entitled “"MICROWAVE-ASSISTED
MICRO-REACTORS: DEVELOPMENT OF A HIGHLY EFFICIENT GAS PHASE CONTACTOR
WITH DIRECT CATALYST HEATING".
Project description: HECTOR aims to create microwave-absorbing sites in
heterogeneous catalytic micro-reactors to enable efficient gas phase
catalytic processing at comparatively lower bulk gas phase temperatures.

is committed to performing excellent research on the fundamental and
applied aspects of Nanoscience. It offers a highly interdisciplinary
research environment, with state of the art synthesis and
characterization instruments.
Research profiles sought
Postdoctoral position 1.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering,
Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science, and previous experience in one
or more of the following fields:
- Synthesis and characterization of microwave-sensitive materials.
- Synthesis and characterization of metal nanoparticles and films
- Design and operation of gas phase catalytic micro-reactors
- Micro-fabrication techniques for micro-reactor design
Postdoctoral position 2.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemical
Engineering or Materials Science, and previous experience in one or more
of the following fields:
- Microwave heating of inorganic materials
- Heat transfer dynamics in reaction systems and/or microsystems,
- Mathematical modelling of the heating of microsystems
Conditions
- 2 year initial contract with the possibility of extension for a further 2 years.
- Salary, social security, etc. according to Spanish university standards
- Positions available on March 1st 2011.
