Post-doctoral Position in T cell biology

A postdoctoral position is available now and for 2 years to study the factors involved in priming of naive CD8+ T cell precursors into effective antigen experienced cells in humans. Experts in cellular immunology, T cell receptor and flow cytometry are encouraged to apply.

Host laboratory
The successful applicant will join the laboratory of Victor Appay within the Infections and Immunity INSERM department of the Hopitâl Pitié-Sâlpétrière (Paris, France). We are employing polychromatic flow cytometry and various cellular assays to characterize the functional attributes of antigen reactive T cells in various cohorts (e.g. elderly, thymectomized, or HIV infected donors), directly ex vivo or in vitro. Our recent work focuses on antigen sensitivity and TCR avidity as central determinants for T cell efficacy in disease and vaccination (Appay et al., Nat Med, June 2008). Our aim is to decipher the mechanisms underlying the generation of effective T cell memory (from TCR signaling to functional output) and address new ways to improve the design of vaccines against viruses or tumors.

Job Requirements
Requirements for this position include a strong record of publications, a PhD and/or MD.  Experience in T cell immunology, molecular biology, infectious diseases or cancer is preferred.

All applications should include the following:
1.  Cover letter indicating current and future research interests and expected availability date.2.  CV (with contacts of three references).  List of publications included.3.  Description of past research experience and accomplishments.
