Dear Colleague,
I am writing to tell you about several opportunities in the Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme (CNP) that may be of interest to persons in your department.
The CNP has been growing rapidly since its inception in 2007 and by the end of 2011, will comprise over 100 scientists in 15 research groups covering a wide range of model systems and approaches, all sharing a broad interest in neural circuits and behavior.
I want to let you know about four initiatives within the CNP:
1) Technical and administrative positions
We are currently recruiting technical and administrative staff in a number of areas. Information on positions currently open is available at http://neuro.fchampalimaud. org/positions/
2) International Neuroscience Doctoral Programme
Our PhD programme offers full scholarships to international applicants. Applications for 2011 are open through March 1st. Visithttp://www.fchampalimaud. org/education/en/ international-neuroscience- doctoral-programme/ for more information.
3) Junior Fellows
This year we opened a first call for Junior Fellows. These are independent postdoctoral positions targeted to scientists who are within 1 year of completing their PhD and who wish to develop an independent research program as an alternative to a traditional postdoc. The next deadline for applications is March 15th and more information can be found at http://neuro.fchampalimaud. org/positions/junior_fellows/.
4) CNP Symposium
The 1st annual CNP Symposium will take place on September 18th-21st at the recently inaugurated Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown on the Lisbon waterfront. Registration and abstract submission will open in the spring. Up-to-date information can be found at: http://neuro.fchampalimaud. org/events/symposium/.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes,
Zachary F. Mainen and Carlos Ribeiro
