Postdoctoral Fellow/Senior Scientist at the European School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials (ECPM), Strasbourg France, in the research unit UMR7509: a post-doctoral position for a chemist is available for 18 months from now (as soon as possible) or no later than March 1, 2011 (sooner is preferred).
The salary will be paid by the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in Strasbourg. The position is allocated in a project on the optimization of an antiparasitic drug-candidate.
The project will focus on "Identification of the binding site of antimalarial agents acting as subversive substrates of glutathione reductases".
Successful applicants should have a strong background in structural enzymology in the presence of inhibitors (kinetic parameters) and advanced enzymology under oxygen-free conditions, mechanistic studies. Experience with photoaffinity labelling of proteins in the presence of photoreactive reagents, or with mass spectrometry analysis of alkylated enzymes, or cristallogenesis of enzymes in the presence of ligands, would be much appreciated. Solid communication skills in English (written, oral) and a strong publication record in
internationally circulated, peer-reviewed journals are mandatory.
